How To Play

HOW TO PLAY:

Assigning an Ace: If there are 4 or fewer players playing, you could simply shuffle the 4 Aces and have each player choose one at random.

If there are more than 4 players playing, then shuffle the deck (including Horse Cards) and deal 1 card to all players. The suit you are dealt is the Ace that you are backing. There can be multiple Jockeys on each Ace, the fewer jockey on the winning Ace means a bigger reward.

If you are dealt a Horse Card when being assigned an Ace, you can choose your own suit (and it can be after all other suits are assigned.) You can also play if you are delt a Red Horse you can only choose a red suit and Black Horse you can only choose a black suit.

Now place your Coloured Pawn (Jockey) in the Jockey space behind your Ace

Setting up the board: Place the 4 Aces in the start blocks in any order you wish.

Place 1 card face down in each of the 7 Hurdle places.

The remaining cards are now the Race Deck (including the cards dealt to assign suits)

Now place your bets (Turn over to see Betting Examples)

And They’re Off!!: Once all bets are placed, you’re ready to race. Anyone can be the dealer at this point, but it may take multiple players to help move and turn cards.

The dealer turns cards from the top of the Race Deck 1 at a time and face up. Whichever suit is shown that Ace moves forward 1 space.

Once the final card becomes level with the Hurdle card, it is then turned face up to reveal the suit whatever suit it is that Ace moves back 1 space.

You continue with his until you have a winner, this being the first Ace to cross the Finish Line.

Horse Cards: There are 2 Horse cards in the pack a Red one and a Black one. Horse cards are penalty cards but where and when they are turned decides their penalty.

If they are turned with the Race Deck the leading Ace of that colour moves back 1 space (Black for Spades & Clubs, Red for Hearts & Diamonds).

If a Horse card is turned on the Hurdle Cards, the leading Ace of that colour moves back 2 spaces. If both suits of the same colour are tied, then both cards receive the relevant penalty.

* It’s not in the rules but I have heard the louder you cheer for your Ace the better chance you have of winning! Have fun and Gamble and Drink responsibly!

BETTING:

Betting Tokens: The game includes 100 x Horse Betting Tokens; these are to be divided evenly between all players (if 10 players playing then each player receives 10 tokens). Play till 1 person has all the tokens, or who ever has the most after a set number of races.

**Real money can be used. Play for as long as your money allows.

Main Pot: All players decide an amount they want to bet, all bets are the same value, The Jockeys of the winning Ace then share the pot equally or if you happen to be the only Jockey on the winning Ace then you take all the spoils for yourself.

Side Pots: Players have plenty of options for side betting, you can literally bet on anything you want. We have given a few examples below.

Pick an Ace: (2-4 players) If there are more than 4 players then 4 of the players could have an individual Ace separate from their main pot. This can be dealt out randomly before putting the Aces back on the start.

Over/Under: (2 players) Players decide if they want over or under 27 on the Hurdle cards. Add up all Hurdle Cards that are face up at the end of the race, are Over or Under 27 (Exactly 27 is a draw). Picture Cards are a value of 10 and Horse cards are a value of 0.

Red or Black: (2 players) Players decide if they want to bet on a Red Ace or Black Ace.

Hurdles: (2 players) Players decide on a hurdle, then you can choose things like Odd or Even, higher than an 8 (or 8 or lower), red or black. E.g. You could bet that Hurdle 3 is an odd number, if that hurdle gets turned and it’s odd you win, if it’s even you lose.

*Each side pot can have multiple bets, just keep track of your bets and their value.
